Once you understand the basic concept, converting fractions to percent and percent to fractions is easy. Recall that a percent is simply a unique way to express a fraction as a number between 1 and 100. Divide the existing numerator by the denominator to convert a fraction to a percent. The decimal is then multiplied by 100. The formula for converting fraction to percentage is:

The Formula

Formula: part / total × 100 = P

where "part" represents the numerator, "total" represents the denominator, and p represents the percentage.

Step 1 Make a decimal number out of the fraction

"Divided by" is indicated by the fraction bar between the top (numerator) and bottom (denominator) numbers. To convert a fraction, such as 1/5, to a decimal, you must do the following math: dividing 1 by 5

1 ÷ 5 = 0.20

Step 2 To convert a decimal number to a percentage, multiply it by 100.

0.20 x 100 = 20%

You can lower a fraction before converting it to a decimal, but you don't have to because the result will be the same. However, if you must convert by long division, lowering the number may make the math easier.

Exercise:

5/10, for example, equals 5 /10 = 0.50.

Reducing 5/10 to 1/2 may help you understand the situation, and you may even notice that 1/2 Equals 0.50.
0.50 multiplied by 100 equals 50%.

Step 3 Example by moving decimals: (The easiest one)

Let’s divide 1 to 8: 1/8= 0. 125

Take the 0.125 and move 2 decimals right: 01.25 and then 012.5 hence;, 12.5% can be stated automatically.

Thinking reverse:

We recommend considering a "percent" as a "fraction of 100." For illustration, the fraction 80/100 is the same as 80 percent.

You can then simplify your fraction of 100 once you have it. Because both 80 and 100 are divisible by ten in this situation, 80/100 equals 8/10. Since we know that both 8 and 10 are divisible by 2, the fraction can be simplified to 4/5. That's how you turn a percentage into a fraction.
